The 2025 UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup is in the books! Italian Gaia Tormena and Frenchman Lorenzo Serres took the wins in the Grand Final in Barcelona, Spain, while Jakob Klemencic and Marion Fromberger brought the overall victories home to Slovenia and Germany.

Fireworks in Barcelona
We promised fireworks — and they delivered. In an exciting men’s final, Serres and Klemencic went shoulder to shoulder into the last obstacle of the day: the iconic stairs. Disaster nearly struck when Klemencic clipped out of his pedal, allowing Serres to secure the win ahead of Germans Louis Krauss and Simon Gegenheimer, with Klemencic finishing fourth.
“I’m really happy to win here in Barcelona — it’s my second win in a row!” Serres smiled. “Last weekend, I was already very close at the European Championships. I told everyone I wanted to finish my season on a high, and that’s exactly what I did today, while all my family was here. That makes me happy!”

Klemencic takes the crown
In the overall standings, Jakob Klemencic held on to his lead despite the scare in the final. His closest rivals, Jeroen van Eck and UCI World Champion Edvin Lindh, both experienced bad luck and didn’t reach the big final. With two round victories this season, Klemencic finished 74 points ahead of Serres in the overall rankings. Van Eck ended in third.
“I had to fight until the end, but it was enough to take the overall title — I’m more than happy with that,” said Klemencic. “I think Jeroen and Edvin were both a bit nervous, they made some mistakes. I just kept my head focused, and it paid off.”

Sweet revenge for Tormena
In the women’s race, Gaia Tormena took revenge for an unlucky season after recovering from a serious injury. In a thrilling final for gold, Tormena created a gap halfway through and managed to hold it until the finish line. Fromberger took second, UCI World Champion Mariia Sukhopalova (UKR) third, and Didi de Vries (NED) fourth.
“I just wanted to win so bad today,” admitted European Champion Tormena. “I really gave everything for this race, because I’ve already won many times here in Barcelona. I couldn’t be happier to take the win, knowing that next year’s UCI World Championships will also be here in Barcelona.”
