Coronavirus strikes again: the second round of the UCI World Cup in Barcelona has been cancelled.

Coronavirus strikes again

Calendar changes due to ongoing coronavirus concerns: the second round of the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup in Barcelona has been cancelled. The organisers, in coordination with the UCI, are currently working on proposing a new date. A further announcement will be made at a later stage.

Just days after UAE authorities were forced to cancel the season opener of the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup in Dubai, the second stop in Barcelona, initially set to take place on March 28th, has been rescheduled to September 2020.

“At the direction of Barcelona and local authorities, we must sadly confirm the cancellation of the initially planned second round of the UCI World Cup due to COVID-19 concerns,” concludes Cycling Week Barcelona and City Mountainbike. “While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our athletes, crew and entire community very seriously. We strongly recommend to follow the guidelines set by public health officials.”

These changes will see Villard-de-Lans become the first stop of the 2020 UCI World Cup on June 5th. We look forward to seeing you later this year!
