City Mountainbike and Ava Sports sign an agreement to join forces in the Americas

City Mountainbike and Ava Sports are pleased to announce a long-term partnership to organise and promote city centre mountain bike events throughout the Americas.

City Mountainbike is the creator of the UCI sanctioned ‘Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup’ format of city center mountain bike race events, which sees four riders competing elbow-to-elbow around a point-to-point circuit. The fast-growing series has caught the attention of Ava Sports and resulted in a multi-year agreement with City Mountainbike to further develop the format across North and South America.

The annual UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Cup and the UCI Mountain Bike Eliminator World Championships that are hosted by City Mountainbike already visited 11 countries across 4 continents over the past four seasons, underlining the continued expansion of the Eliminator discipline. New venues are likely to be added on the future calendar.

Both companies will work closely together to establish this challenging race format throughout the Americas bringing an opportunity for local and national participation alongside professional international riders.

Kristof Bruyneel, Managing Director of City Mountainbike said: “This partnership with Ava Sports is a fantastic opportunity to welcome new communities who haven’t seen these types of extreme and entertaining races.”

About Ava Sports

Ava Sports has been assisting top athletes, teams, series and sponsors in motorsports and cycling since 2002, led by Fernando Avallone, an amateur racer who had been involved with elite talent in those fields since the 90s. Some of the top achievements were working with World Champion MTB teams and riders even long before Ava Sports got started, managing the A1GP Team Brazil international franchise for two-time Formula One World Champion (and two-time Indy 500 winner) Emerson Fittipaldi for a few seasons, while still working with young developing drivers, winning in races and tracks all over globe. More recently Ava Sports was able to initiate and close all necessary partnerships for an American company to build, in Rio de Janeiro, the SX BMX track for the 2016 Olympic Games – track delivered on time, on budget; in the last few years Ava Sports also secured a multi-year, ongoing partnership between a Brazilian sponsor and Julien Absalon, the French MTB extraordinaire.
